The time after giving birth and having a new baby is such a vulnerable and extremely emotional period in one’s life. It is a time of transformation and adaptation. I created Palm Springs Doula to empower mothers and to be a community guide. I’ll be an extra heart for you and two extra hands.

Becoming the Palm Springs Birth Doula, Birth Story Photographer, Lactation Assistant and Newborn Nanny:

As far back as my earliest memories, I have always loved filling the roll of teacher, advisor, supporter, or  "big sister." My passion for woman's rights and advocacy must have been something that blossomed from having a strong fierce mother, myself. My mother had all girls. As the oldest, more than anything, 6 year old me just wanted to take them on as my own and play the "mommy."

As I grew older my fascination with babies, pregnancy and woman's rights only grew.  I discovered birth work within Valley Hospital of Las Vegas, NV during 2004. My life was forever impacted as I witnessed my first live vaginal birth. I continued at Valley by assisting in the Maternity Ward and in the Nursery for a few years before leaving for schooling. I'll forever be grateful for those mothers early in my education who were willing to open their labor suites to students eager to take in the experiences.

In 2009 I became a Nanny. Many of my most rewarding memories over the years has been down on my hands and knees teaching toddlers all about life. The wonder in their eyes and the ability they have to soak everything in like a sponge still is astonishing to me. It is the most incredible feeling to raise and love other families children and to be loved right back as they incorporate me and often times my children right into their family.

To round out my skills, I have gone on to complete continued education courses in

*Mandated Reporting: Child Abuse and Neglect in Ca (Full Course),

Fertility Awareness,

Anatomy And Physiology Of The Female Genitalia And The Reproductive System,

Maternal Nutrition,

Childhood Development,

Red Cross CPR/ Infant CPR,

First Aid Training,

Infant Massage Techniques,

Prenatal Education Training,

Postpartum And Newborn Care,

Birth Assisting Throughout Labor And Delivery Through DONA International,

Emotional Labor Support,

Lactation Support,

and Racism & Privilege in Birth Work,

Sounds intense, and it is. I love adding to my education so I may better serve my clients and our community. I currently volunteer my time with Desert Regional Medical Hospital in Labor and Delivery, NICU, the Nursery, Maternity and wherever else I am needed. Currently, as profession, I am a Certified Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Support Lactation Assistant, Newborn Care Specialist and Professional Photographer. I have been supporting families as a caretaker full-time for the past eleven years.

As a Certified Doula, I love to share my years of experiences and knowledge with birthing people, significant others and siblings. I feel what sets me apart and makes me right for this work is my empathetic warm loving nature. This, coupled with my can-do and roll-with-it attitude, makes me perfect for comforting you through hard labor and also encouraging new parents as they learn the ins and outs of life with newborns, toddlers, and beyond. I have fallen in love with care giving, the birthing process, infants, children of all ages and the families I help.

My four children, my partner, and I now reside in Rancho Mirage, California. I have brought my Doula practice here to the Mojave Desert where I saw an immediate need for my services in the Coachella Valley. My greatest joys are all linked to motherhood, education and the arts. I choose this life path to spend as much time with my children as possible, and to pass on the strong tender motherhood skills that my own mother passed down to me through example. I teach my very own little ones to be capable and self reliant. They too enjoy fawning over the smaller children, teaching songs and games to the littler ones, and being surrounded by the beautiful chaos a home filled with children brings.

I look forward to meeting with you. I look forward to opening my heart up to you. I look forward to building that relationship of trust; and nurturing you through this important time in your life.

Warmly,

Rebecca Mousseau CD,CPD
