Doula Policies
- Only two Birth Assistance services are booked per month to allow for proper attention for each individual client. (Services are booked on a first come basis.)
- A signed Doula contract and the retainer of %40 are due to be considered a client of Palm Springs Doula and to retain your due date month.
- Under no circumstances will services be provided for smoking pregnant mothers or families who smoke in their homes and/or vehicles.
- I refrain from giving clients any kind of holistic medicines, herbs or medicinal remedies or prescription or over the counter medicines or drugs of any kind, as I am not licensed to do so, and administration of these could be considered practicing medicine without a license.
- My opinions are my own. I am a Doula and not a health care practitioner. Clients sign wavers that release myself, Rebecca M., Palm Springs Doula, and its subcontractors from all liability, in that clients are responsible for taking responsibility for their own health and the health and well-being of their baby.
- Under no circumstances can I drive a client to the hospital during labor for liability reasons.

Release of Confidential Information: Please be aware your Doula will work closely with you, take notes about your conversations, including personal information you choose to disclose to her and information regarding your pregnancy, health, birth and postpartum, as well as any information regarding your child(ren). This information will be shared with your back up doula(s) just as means to insure continuity of care should she be unable to attend your birth. Palm Springs Doula understands the sensitivity of this information and will protect your personal information, but please be aware that this information may also be used for the purpose of re-certification, DONA certifications as a Birth Doula or Childbirth Educator. Cancellations & Refunds
A non-refundable retainer of %40 is due at our first prenatal visit. This retainer reserves your due date month in the Palm Springs Doula calendar. The remaining portion is due by 36th week. Payment arrangements are available to break up payments into monthly installments.
You reserve the right to cancel services at any time. If you decide not to employ Palm Sprigs Doula after signing this contract, the following will apply: • Cancellation more than 4 weeks before your due date – 50% refund (less deposit) • Cancellation between 4 weeks and 2 weeks before your due date – 25% refund (less deposit) • Cancellation less than 2 weeks before your due date – no refund.
Failure to Provide Service & Backup Information: Palm Springs Doula will make every effort to provide the services described here. In the case of a rapid birth or medical emergency, it may not become possible for these services to be provided. If you contact your Doula to advise that you are in labor, within three hours of your birth, but a Doula does not attend your birth due to an error on Pam Springs Doula's part, a refund of the total amount paid less retainer will be issued. If you fail to advise your Doula that you are in labor, timely, for whatever reason, you will not be due a refund or retainer of amounts paid. If there is a remaining balance outstanding, this will still be due. If you begin labor, and your Doula is unable to attend your birth for any reason (major illness or accident, unexpected emergency, scheduled time away/vacation that you are already aware of, etc), you will be instructed to call a provided back-up doula. If you choose NOT to employ the back-up, no refund will be given. If you do indeed use the back-up, there is no need to pay anything additional, as she will be compensated for her work by Palm Springs Doula. In your prenatal visit and signing of your contract, you will be made aware of each of these points again and have a chance to discuss concerns if needed.
